Easy Home Decorating Tips to Use Today!

By Lynn Cressy

Are you looking for home decorating tips to help you feel more focused on your latest decorating project? Here are a few ideas to get you “back on track.”

First of all, where are all of your home décor accessories? Are they scattered among several closets and drawers around the house? Consider setting up an “accessories closet” which will hold all of the items you are not currently using. This might include such objects as candles, candleholders, vases, bowls, floral arrangements, and trays. The “accessories closet” should also hold practical, everyday necessities such as scissors, tape and floral-arranging materials as well as a tool-box containing common household tools.

Imagine how easy it will be to change the home decor in a room when the seasons change. Just look in the “accessories closet” for a touch of fall decor to replace that summery flower arrangement. Now that makes home decorating fast and easy!

Another home decorating tip is to add height to accessories on a table which makes them more attractive to the eye. Try using a small stack of books mixed in with other home decor to add interest to the display. You might also set a small novelty item on top of the books.

Twigs in pottery vases make quite a statement and are very easy to assemble. These “bare branches” might be bamboo, willow twigs, cattails or unique, rustic branches purchased in a floral or craft shop. A large vase and branch arrangement looks great sitting on the floor and can be an attractive “filler” for a bare corner.

Keep in mind the home decorating rule of arranging home décor in odd numbers. Three small baskets on a table, five small framed prints on a wall, and seven tall, slim candleholders over the fireplace—you get the idea! Arrangements of three, five, or seven are more attractive and pleasing to the eye than groupings of two, four, or six objects.

Enjoy seeing your decorating projects take on a new life by mixing ingenuity and imagination to make home decorating easy and fun.

Interior Bedroom Design

By Tom Houser

Besides the kitchen, interior bedroom design is the most popular room to design in the family home. The bedroom should be cozy and restful in its appearance. Bright colors are not recommended because they are not calming. Colors best suited for bedrooms are warm and neutral colors.

To start your interior bedroom design plan you should choose the fabrics first along with the base wall color. One the fabric and color is selected then you can select the furniture that matches. For wall coverings, you do not need to purchase expensive artwork. If you or someone you know is a photographer then choose some unique photos to cover the walls. If you or someone you know is an artist then maybe you can hang some of their artwork in a nice frame. Now you will have wall hangings that no one else will have.

When doing your interior bedroom design the flooring in bedrooms should never be tile, marble or granite. Use wood or carpet for bedrooms, you do not want an ice-cold floor in the morning. Carpet would be the warmest but wood is also a popular choice for bedroom flooring. To avoid clutter in the bedroom try extra cabinets or storage spaces in the bedroom. If the closet is big enough, put some extra storage or shelving in the closet.

Another tip for interior bedroom design is to choose the same color and fabric for the bedcovers and curtains. Many people like to have very dark curtains to keep out the morning sunlight. An alternative to dark curtains against light colored walls would be to have two layers of lighter colored curtains instead of one dark colored curtain. If the bedroom is a small room, consider using mirrors on the walls to give the appearance of a larger room.

Lighting options for interior bedroom design include the usual light in the center of the ceiling. Additional lighting includes lampshades and even pin lights to create different patterns of light. Remember that you spend about a third of your life in the bedroom, therefore it is your private personal space so the room should be the most relaxing room in your home. You also must have a good mattress and pillows to go along with the relaxing atmosphere of the room.

I hope that you will have created a room plan and followed it. Placement of the bedroom furniture is the main reason for creating a plan. If more than one person uses the room, then access to the double bed is required for both people. Thus, it should not be placed in a corner of the room.

If the interior bedroom design requires that electronic devices such as a television need a stand and access to wall sockets then your plan must consider this. I hope that this will put you on the path to a successful bedroom interior design.
